Michael G. Wiegers, age 77, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021, in Fort Myers, FL, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, after sugery complications. He was born on October 25, 1943, in Menominee, Michigan, to George W. and Bernice (Prudhomme) Wiegers.
He lived in Marinette, Wisconsin, during most of his school years. Mike joined the United States Air Force and proudly served from April 1965 until April 1971. Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University in May 1973. He married Eleanor Joan (Verstynen) Moorhous on July 27, 1973. At that time he began his marketing career working for Honeywell in Peoria, IL. He continued working in the marketing field, relocating to Texas, Louisiana and Chicago, until his retirement in 2002. Mike and Jo relocated permanently to Fort Myers in 2009.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Ronald and George Wiegers.
Mike is survived by his wife Eleanor, his stepchildren Deborah (Michael) Ingold and Bradley Moorhous; his sister, Judy Wilde and his sister-in-law Fran Wiegers; his grandchildren Kayla (David Pucci) Raisor, Faith (Rafa) Mendoza, Charity (Charles) Van Galder, Josiah Moorhous and Isaiah Moorhous; his great grandchildren Aiden Mendoza and Franklin Pucci. He is also survived by two nieces and three nephews and their spouses and children.
Mike loved his family and his friends who became like family. He loved to fish and hunt. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service and burial at Sarasota National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
