Olivia Garrett Weldon (age 96), widow of George E. Weldon, died February 4, 2021. She was born in Ajo, Arizona on January 18, 1925 to Felix Garrett and Fern Olivia Herrmann. She moved to Brewster County, Texas in infancy where she lived for 20 years. She graduated from Alpine High School in 1942. She attended Southwest Texas University in San Marcos and Austin Community College where she was listed on the Dean’s List of Excellence. Olivia was employed by the Texas Department of Human Services for 26 years until her retirement in 1990.
In 1969, Olivia married George E. Weldon and was a partner and Life underwriter in her husband’s insurance agency. She was a life-time member of the Methodist Church, member and past President of the Couples Class, First Methodist Church, Austin and member of the Scots of Austin.
She is preceded in death by her husband George E. Weldon, her parents, grandson John Milton Zesch, and sister Joyce Jenkins.
Olivia is survived by her children Janice Hudson Teas (Elgin), James Garrett Hudson (Austin) and John Alan Hudson (Paula) (Napa, CA); grandchildren Michelle Thornton (Richard), Telisa Zesch Valentine (Dale), Annisa Zesch Hendrix (Jay) and Pam Hudson and Alan Hudson (Lil); great grandchildren Wesley Zesch, Olivia Hendrix, Meghan Hendrix, Madeline Hendrix, Devon Hudson, Zach Valentine, Kayla Valentine, and Summer Thornton; great-great grandchildren Hyatt Zesch, Wesley James Zesch, Jr., Alana Hudson, and Liam Hudson. She is also survived by her brother Felix Garrett and sisters Mary Jensen and Frances Morris.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
