Helen Kimball Linn, age 96 of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Atrium Health – Main in Charlotte. Born April 11, 1924 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Wertz C. Kimball and Edith Goodman Kimball. Her husband, Oscar Reid Linn, who died on June 3, 2013, which was their 62nd anniversary, and a brother, Clay C. Kimball, preceded her in death.
Helen graduated from Landis High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Lutheran Chapel Church in China Grove, where she served as Chancel Choir Director for 50 years. She was an active member of the Buena Hinson Circle and Social Ministry Committee.
Mrs. Linn was employed by the Rowan Department of Social Services for 30 years as Administrative Assistant to the Director.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Reid Linn (Susan) of Bridgewater, VA and daughter, Marianne Haywood (Barry) of China Grove; brothers, James Kimball of China Grove, Frank Kimball of Port Deposit, MD; sisters, Euvalea Strickland of Carolina Beach; Verlene Westbrook of West Palm Beach, FL; and Eleanor Black (Jerry) of North Bethesda, MD. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Karie Wilburn (Michael) and Patrick Linn, both of Harrisonburg, VA; Jordan Haywood (Akiko) of Hillsborough and Whitney Haywood of Raleigh; along with her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Bennett and Philip Wilburn; Harper, Hannah, and Ruby Linn; and Sophia Haywood.
Private graveside services will be held with the family, with Pastor John Tucker officiating.
