Edward Thomas Davis, 74, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021 after an extended illness. Ed was born on October 11, 1946 in Chicago Illinois to Cecil L. Davis and Elizabeth Jean Davis. He was a member of the tumbling team in high school. After graduation, he attended college in Chicago and then served in the U. S. Army. After his discharge, Ed relocated to Texas which became his home for the next 53 years, where he met his wife Marilyn and they married in 1972. He also returned to college, graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in Accounting. He was a member of Beta Alpha Psi National Accounting Fraternity, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He retired from Old Republic Insurance Company as Financial Manager of the Houston branch.
Ed was always an avid golfer, playing as often as he could and was so proud of his hole in one. After his retirement, his favorite activity, beside golf, was traveling in his RV and taking RV caravans with Marilyn, thoroughly enjoying the many friends that they made. Many years, they would travel four or five months at a time. Together, Ed and Marilyn visited 43 states and 9 provinces over the years.
Ed was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Harry Hansard. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn, his brother Bill and wife Su, his sisters Janet Hansard, Kathy Davis, Margie Gallagher and husband Michael, and Susan Bednar and husband Jim, as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces whom he adored. He also leaves behind numerous cousins and a legion of friends.
