Faith White Shaw, transitioned peacefully the morning of February 3, 2021 after a mighty fight with glioblastoma (a malignant brain tumor). Her final days were spent with family, surrounded by laughter and prayer. She was 63.
Faith, fondly known as Faye, was born January 27, 1958 in Abbeville, Alabama to Lenore White. At the age of 7, she lost her mother and was raised by her grandparents, Bonnie Bell Lawrence and Jordan White. Mid-December of 2018, she was diagnosed with glioblastoma. Bonnie Maynard, her younger sister, relocated her to Connecticut, so she could receive the best care from Yale Smilow Cancer Center and be with family. Her attending physician was Dr. Joachim M. Baehring.
Faye was an avid cook. She shared her love for food with her family and friends.
She was known countywide for her banana pudding and squash pie.
Faith retired from Twin Magnolias Assisted Living in Abbeville, where she worked for many years. It suited her servant heart.
Faith had such a way with words, and she didn’t mince them. One of her favorite sayings was, “if you ain’t fightin’, you’re dead.” True to herself, she fought hard until the very end. She touched the hearts and lives of so many. Her life was an example of God’s faithfulness and all who encountered her were touched by her brilliant light.
Faith is survived by her sisters, Bonnie Maynard and Shawnee Letsa; brother-in-law, Carlos Maynard; nieces, Chloe Maynard, Reba Letsa, and Kate Letsa; nephew, Charles Maynard; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. All of which she loved and touched deeply.
