Barbara Kimball Silberman, age 98 years, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021 with her loving daughter Ellen Silberman Lemoine at her side. She is survived by her daughter Ellen Silberman Lemoine of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her son Neil Asher Silberman of Branford, CT; her granddaughter Maya Cae Wyatt and her great-grandson, Judah Wyatt of Riverview, FL. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Saul J. Silberman, and by her devoted son-in-law Ronald M. Lemoine.
Barbara Silberman was born in Beverly, MA, eldest daughter of the late Harry & Mildred Kimball and sister of Marjorie Kimball Salter. She graduated from Lynn English High School and after graduation from College served as a medical technician at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. She married Saul J. Silberman, a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, in 1948. After their marriage, they resided in Brookline, later moving to Haverhill where they raised their son and daughter. In retirement, they resided in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Ogunquit, ME.
Barbara Silberman cherished her many close friendships and was devoted to her relatives of both the Jarnes and Kimball families. She travelled widely, was an enthusiastic patron of theater and arts, and actively participated in many philanthropic causes. She and her husband were among the founding sponsors and benefactors of the Florida Atlantic University Jupiter Campus Lifelong Learning Program, for which her husband served as first president. She served on the American Council of Jewish Women and was a longtime member of National Board of the Brandeis University Women’s Committee, whose Palm Beach chapter presented her with a “Woman of the Year” award. She was the second of four consecutive generations of lifetime members of Hadassah and visited Israel many times. She was a dedicated member of Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead.
A private graveside service will be held on February 21, 2021, officiated by Rabbi David J. Meyer of Temple Emanu-El.
