Born in Boston, son of the late Walter and Sadie May (Simpson) Lynds, he had resided in Dartmouth for nearly 50 years.
Mr. Lynds served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received a degree in Electronical Engineering from Northeastern University and went on to have a successful career in electronics working for Cornell Dubilier and Aerovox.
Ronald was a member New Bedford Yacht Club. He enjoyed sailing, kayaking, golfing, playing bridge at the Wamsutta Club. He played loved music and played several musical instruments. He enjoyed sailing, kayaking, golfing and playing bridge. He was a member of the Wamsutta Club and New Bedford Yacht Club.
With his wry sense of humor and his distinctive eyebrows, he was often mistaken for Hal Holbrook, the actor best known for his one man shows impersonating Mark Twain.
Ron will be much missed by his daughters, Laura Lynds and her husband Charles Brenton of Baltimore, MD and by his daughter Marilyn Lynds and her husband James Dismukes of Moss Landing, CA; and his granddaughters Amelia Lynds and Aurora Dismukes also of CA. Due to the COVID-19, his great grandchild, Liora Lynds never got to meet him but as she grows up she will be sure to hear many tales of her funny, fun great grandfather. Ronald will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews of the Bezanson family of Pembrooke, MA.
He was the brother of the late Vernon and Al Lynds.
His burial will be private. A celebration of life will be held in the summer. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
St. Jude was also his wife Catherine’s favorite charity.
