Mr. Hoffman proudly served in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War and also worked as a food service instructor at Fort Jackson.
James was a member of St. Matthew Catholic church as well as being involved with the Knights of Columbus for many years.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances, his parents, and three grandsons, James Holbrooks, Ricky Rhoades, and Carl Hoffman.
Mr. Hoffman is survived by his children, Linda Holbrooks (George), Joseph Hoffman, Thomas Hoffman (Donna), Kenneth Hoffman (Sandra), and Jo-Ann Mathes (Gregory); grandchildren, John Holbrooks (Billie), Damien Hoffman (Lara), Joseph Hoffman II (Sonia), Heather Carnley (Ray), Caroline Diez, Michelle Hoffman, Paul Hoffman, Thomas Hoffman II (Rachel), Zackory Mathes (Jennifer); as well as 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for James will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 W Central Ave, Winter Haven, Florida 33880 with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 N, US-301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592.
Donations in Mr. Hoffman's name made be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Cornerstone Hospice.
