John Steven Huy died at the age of 64 on February 14, 2021 in Wichita KS into the arms of the Lord, Jesus Christ. He graduated from Kansas University (KU) with a BS Degree in Finance / Minor in Language. John was Director of the KU Language Lab for many years and subsequently accepted a Project Engineering position in Chicago, IL for ALDI's new development across the United States. He relocated back to Wichita, KS to be near his family. John recently retired from Wolters Kluwer as a Business Tax Consultant to spend time with his nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was a talented musician and singer. He played the clarinet, flute, saxophone, baritone bugle (Drum Corp.), piano, and guitar. John was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society Choir located in Wichita, KS and sang bass. He was an alumni of the Continental Ambassadors and Cavaliers Drum Corps.. He mentored new Drum Corp, recruits and volunteered throughout the years to travel with the Cavaliers during competition season.
John is survived by his father, Walter John Huy; sister, Dana Huy; nephews, Matt Herndon, Cody Clark, Chad Schroeder; and 7 great nieces / nephews. He loved his role as "Uncle John".
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, 3:00 pm, at Resthaven Mortuary located at 119th Street West and Kellogg, with viewing starting at 9:00 am - 3:00 pm same day.
