Robert J. Dennehy passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the age of 75. Robert was born on July 24, 1945 in Queens, New York. He graduated from Rice High School in New York City in 1963 and married his high school sweetheart, Frances, on July 23, 1966. His early career was spent in the United States Navy and also as a police officer for the NYPD. Robert went on to receive a B.S degree from NYIT and after retirement from the police department, spent many years working as an analyst within the New York shipping industry.
Robert was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be best remembered for his storytelling, his unfailing work ethic and his willingness to always lend a helping hand. Robert had a personality that was larger than life. His love of family and history made his stories charismatic, rich in detail and full of excitement. Robert’s never-ending love for his family requires no translation. He referred to his wife of more than 50 years as ‘the bride,’ a term of endearment, but also as a way to remind others how proud he was to love her. More than anything, the life and family that they built together was his greatest accomplishment. The joy of watching his family grow and sharing in all of their special moments through the years brought him such pleasure. He was the luckiest man alive to have loved and to have been loved by his family.
Robert’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by his four adoring children, Christine Giunta (Joe), Michele Tyrrell (Ray), Steven Dennehy (Jennifer) and Andrea Fabian (Rob); and his ten grandchildren, Rachel, Olivia, Christopher, Ray, Charlie, Cole, Sean, Jake, Logan and Declan. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Frances Dennehy (Sucamele) and his parents, James Dennehy and Mary Dennehy (McAuley).
