Joseph Lee Elder, 60, of Rex, Georgia was born May 27, 1960 in Fayetteville, Georgia to the late Mr. Eddie T. and Mrs. Catherine (Stargell) Elder. Mr. Elder departed this life on February 13, 2021 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia.
Mr. Elder graduated from Fayetteville High School. He worked as a Material Handler with Future Forwarding where he was well liked, and he enjoyed his work. In his spare time, he loved conversing and laughing with his wife, watching sports, especially the Atlanta Falcons, socializing with friends, and loving his grandchildren.
Mr. Elder had a smile that was contagious and a laugh that would fill up a room. He was quiet, but listened well and gave advice when needed. He loved Jesus and enjoyed singing along to his favorite gospel song, "Something About The Name Jesus."
Mr. Elder is survived by his loving wife, Laconya Elder, stepchildren, Michael Dugger, Jr. (Oksana) and Patrick Dugger (Breanne), and seven grandchildren (Brionna Smith, Jeremiah King, Michael Dugger, London Dugger, Deshawn Dugger, Langston Dugger, and Tyriq Dugger). He also leaves behind his siblings: Martha (Frank) Williams, Willie (Louella) Elder, Leonard H. (Elnora) Elder, and Min. Johnny C. (Gladys) Elder. Additionally, Mr. Elder leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to the departure of his parents, Mr. Elder was also preceded in death by his brother, Mr. Eddie Roy Elder, and sister, Ms. Betty Jean Elder.
Mr. Joseph Lee Elder will forever be missed; his spirit lives on in all of us.
