It is with great sadness that the family of John Gerard Senatore announces his passing from this earth to his heavenly place. He passed in the early morning hours of February 15, 2021. John was born in San Angelo on November 23, 1958 to his parents; the late Vincent M. Senatore and Maria M. Mata Senatore. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1977 where he played Varsity football and baseball. He attended Angelo State University and was a Water Safety and Swim instructor, he attended Texas Tech where he studied architecture and drafting and also the Technical Institute in Waco, Texas.
John worked in construction his entire adult life and owned Senatore Building and Remodeling. John surrendered his life to Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1981 and was baptized at Harris Avenue Baptist Church by Rev. Earl Dunn.
John attended numerous mission trips in the United States and Mexico. He will be fondly remembered for his charity in supporting the underprivileged in the border towns of Del Rio and El Paso in Ciudad Acuna and Juarez, Mexico. John and his wife Janet, whom he married on January 9, 2004, traveled together to help those in need. They helped with building supplies, family necessities and food. They cherished their time assisting multiple orphanages.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janet Senatore; his mother, Mrs. Maria N. Senatore; his sister, Mrs. Maria S. Strickland and her husband Mr. Dan W. Strickland and his only niece, Miss Lauren M. Strickland. He also had a special fondness for his cousin, Mrs. Oralia Gonzales whom he considered a Second Mother. He has numerous cousins whom he often shared childhood memories with; Joe Mata II, Julian Mata, Lupe Mata and Freddy Padilla and so many others of the Mata and Padilla family. He also loved his dear cousin, Laurel Senatore from New Jersey.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 2 PM in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lupe Mata officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
