Norma L Dudley Irwin, 95, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2021. Norma was born August 4, 1925 in Parsons, Kansas to Allen P Dudley and Mabel E Stewart Dudley. Norma met William “Bill” Irwin, Jr. ,while attending classes at Kansas University, and married November 27, 1946. Three children were born to them, Cheryll “Cheri” Irwin Boydston, Richard “Dick”Irwin and Robert “Bob” Irwin. Norma graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, KS with a degree in Music Education. Bill’s career in the Air Force caused them to move around a lot and the family ended up living in several states: Kansas, California, Colorado, Oklahoma , and Missouri. Norma’s friends and family remember her as a kind, gentle, patient, inspirational and happy lady who always had a smile on her face. Norma loved gardening, reading, playing games, singing in church choir, singing with her Sweet Adelines choruses, camping, traveling and many other activities. She always said keeping herself busy kept her young. She was an active and dedicated member of the North Cross United Methodist Church. She loved her last job as a traveling lunch lady in the North Kansas City School District and happily worked until the age of 93.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents Allen and Mabel Dudley, her brother Don, her husband Bill, her son Dick, her grandson Matthew and her great grandson Alec.
Norma is survived by her daughter Cheri, her son Bob, her 7 grandchildren and her 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Norma’s long and wonderful life will be scheduled later in the Spring.
