Leora was born during the depression and grew up poor, but always felt she lived a rich, blessed life.
She had many interests during her life and was exceptional at all of them. Cooking was her favorite. All who knew her would agree she probably has already made several pie crusts and now working on chocolate, pecan, and pumpkin pies. She loved spending time in the kitchen as was evident by her excellent meals. Back in the day, her nimble fingers made beautiful quilts and clothes. She was an avid, competitive card player.
Leora was preceded in death by Dave, her husband of 52 years, whom she met when they both worked at Reynolds Metals Company. Also preceded by her parents and brother, Vane Sydnor, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Patsy Kramer and Brenda Kiser (Bob); grandchildren Rusty Kramer (Erin), Scott Kramer (Tina), and Sarah Compton (Britt Stripling); great-grandchildren Trent (Sarah), Kameron, Parker, Wade, Briggs, Ian, and Olivia (due in May). She is survived by a sister, Helen Quick. She also leaves behind a whole host of extended family and friends that she truly loved. Her door was open to all.
Patsy and Brenda would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers Kris Kiser, Shirley Aubrey, and Carol Combs. And a huge thank you to Hosparus for their kindness, care, and prayers. April, Jessica, and Lawrence will always be special to us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hosparus (3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr, Louisville, KY 40205) or Eastside Praise Church of God (6300 Billtown Road, Jeffersontown, KY).
Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm Tuesday at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Her funeral will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
You may be gone from this earth, but will forever be in our hearts. We love you.
