A visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A celebration of life service will occur following the visitation on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the services will be Bro. Darwin Hunter with Jonathan Jenkins reading the obituary.
Mr. Wright was born on May 1, 1942 to Harry Louis and Gladys Laverne Wright in Dixie, LA and passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 78.
He honorably served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1966 to 2001, where he served 4 tours of duty including 1 tour in Panama, 2 tours in Desert Storm, and 1 tour in Honduras in the 527th Battalion. He then worked for the Louisiana State Guard in Minden, LA from July 9, 2001 to May 14, 2011 in the Maintenance Shop as Supervisor, working in the rehabilitation of Inmates. He retired as a Sergeant First Class.
He was a member of the VFW American Legion in Koran, LA and enjoyed working as a Volunteer with Blanchard Police Department and Caddo District 1 Fire Department and as a First Responder. He loved helping other people. He would mow lawns for family and friends. He liked collecting knives and trains.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Phillips Wright of Blanchard, LA; daughters, Rebecca Morgan and husband Gary of Sarepta,LA and Margaret Paulette Wright of Bossier City, LA; sister, Mary Stella Richardson and Husband Louis of Bokchito, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, many friends and former co-workers.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis Edwin Wright, Melvin Cannan Wright, Robert Earl Wright, and James Benton Wright; sisters, Florence Laverne Folmar, Jeanette Lucile Williams, Betty Louise Courtney, and Marjorie Ethel Hafner.
