Charles “Doug” D. Walker, 85, entered eternal rest February 19, 2021. He was born April 23, 1935 and grew up on a farm in Freestone County, Texas. He graduated high school and went to college where he later became a bank officer. Doug met the love of his life Wanda Rogers at Texas Commerce Bank in downtown Houston. It was love at first sight! Doug was the president of the Bowling League from 2000-2019 and a member of the Old Tymers Sr. Max Bowl North. He served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church North Houston. Doug is preceded in death by his parents: Will and Levia Dossey Walker; numerous other beloved brothers and sisters; he was the last child alive. At his time of passing, Doug was survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wanda Walker; daughter: Mitzi Walker and husband Joseph “Georgie” Martinez; along with many beloved nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Johnnie Walker, and special brother Carl Dean (Bill) Shields, both of Teague, Texas.
Wanda B. Walker, 80, was called home to be with The Lord on February 22, 2021. She was born September 12, 1940 in St. Joseph Hospital and spent her entire life in Houston. Wanda attended and received her diploma from Sam Houston High School. She later went on to work with special ed children as well as being a loving wife and mother. Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Houston. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband: Charles “Doug” Walker; parents: Jack Anthony and Marium Marcella Rogers; sister: Troylene Tsanais. She is survived by her daughter: Mitzi Walker and husband Joseph “Georgie” Martinez; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Doug and Wanda loved to bowl and gamble together and enjoyed every minute of it. They were married for 61 years until Doug’s passing. Just a few days later, shortly after Wanda joined him in heaven. Now, they are together again with their Lord and Savior.
