Donnis enjoyed spending time with her family and trips to the Belk store. Antique shopping, road trips with her husband, Joe, playing the piano, and ice cream were among her favorite things.
She married Joseph Terry in August of 1998 and the two lived in Benson throughout their marriage. They were members of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Benson, NC, and loved their church family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Terry, her parents, and by her brother, Jerry Maples. She is survived by her stepsons, Marty Terry (Dawne) of Raleigh, Jarrett Terry of Benson; Grandchildren: Curtis Heinsohn (Shannon) of Raleigh, Jayde Terry of Raleigh, Ashlyn Beasley (Trevor) of Cary, Jansen Terry of Sanford, Jake Terry of Raleigh; one great-granddaughter, Madeline McDonald of Raleigh, as well as siblings Van Maples (Donna) of Destin, FL, Rhonda Graves (Randy) of Quinton, AL, and Jerrie Marie Burns (Jeff) of Pelham, AL.
Donnis will be remembered for her huge, caring heart, love of her family, and her selflessness. We rejoice knowing that she is celebrating her homecoming with Jesus, her husband, and family gone before. Donnis loved Jesus, so we find peace knowing that she is no longer in pain and can rest eternally until we are together again.
A Celebration of Donnis’ Life will be held on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021 at 11 am at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family and closest friends are encouraged to attend. Due to current safety recommendations, the chapel seating will be limited to 50.
All are welcome to view the service virtually through the Facebook Page of Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park. Additionally, all are welcome to attend interment at Raleigh Memorial Park immediately following the service.
