Noyis was born in Killeen (Bell County), Texas, on August 24, 1930, to the late Robert Thomas & Nettie Thelma (Dunlap) Medart. He mostly lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area during childhood with his Mother and sister, Janis. His cousins and extended family lived throughout Texas and he became very close to them - often spending summers or extended time with them.
As a teenager, Noyis apprenticed in a shoe repair shop in Ft. Worth for several years. He graduated from North Dallas High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-1952. Following the war, Noyis attended Dallas College El Centro Campus for an architect-engineering class in 1953 where he met his bride, Mary Sue and they married on December 11, 1954.
Noyis began working for Dallas Power and Light in 1953 and then worked at Texas Instruments. For most of his career, he was a Licensed Contractor for home remodeling and specialized in painting houses. Eventually, Noyis utilized his skills learned from his apprenticeship as a teenager, bought a shoe repair business, and returned to the shoe repair trade for the remainder of his career.
He was a very strong and determined man. Noyis was outgoing and loved visiting and talking with people. As a young man, Noyis was in a small country music band as a singer with a good voice; he enjoyed his time in the band and continued to enjoy singing throughout life. He was adventurous and enjoyed taking Sunday drives with Mary Sue for relaxation as well as taking trips, especially to Colorado. He loved to have fun – especially with Mary Sue and his family. Noyis and Mary Sue loved square dancing and round dancing and they were members of Kissin’ Kuzzins Square and Round Dance Club for over 40 years. He and Mary Sue also enjoyed playing bridge with friends. More than anything, Noyis relished gatherings with his immediate and extended family as well as friends. They were members of Northway Christian Church for nearly 65 years.
In addition to his parents, Noyis was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Sue Medart; sister, Janis Daphne Camp and and half-sister, Tommie Jean Medart. He is survived by his son, David Noyis Medart of Dallas; daughter, Karen Sue Medart of Fort Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lynn & Burt Fieser of San Diego, California; grandson, Joshua Fieser of San Diego, California; granddaughter, Devyn Fieser of San Diego, California; half-brother Robert Ewell Medart and his wife Barbara, of Bonanza, Oregon; brother-in-law Glen Beauchamp of Lorena, Texas; nephews and nieces and their families: Robert Camp, Greg Camp, Lance Perkins, Robin Haney, and Rebecca Perkins, and several cousins.
