Donald Edward Iler, of St. Ann, MO passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021. Donald was born in Bremerton, Washington on May 29, 1945 and was raised in Saint Louis. After honorably serving in the United States Army as a small engine mechanic in Germany, he settled down and raised his family in Saint Ann, MO. There had a prosperous career in the food processing industry where his ever practical mindset led him to food process management for large industries the likes of Givaudan and Nabisco. From the vocation of his career dealing with food, his family fondly remembers his ability to make great soups and his own versions of popular recipes which everyone loved. Don was also an avid sports fan. He was well known at Saint Ann Golf club links where he enjoyed joking over stroke count either with his daughter Julie and with the regular local players. During baseball season he could always be found near the crackling of an AM radio listening to the sportscast of his beloved Cardinals. But he is probably most recognized rink side at any of the Saint Louis Youth Rockets' venues where his daughter Julie played, coached and where his grandson Alex eventually played. Don rarely missed a game, or even a practice. In all the places Don is known, he will be always be remembered for his quick witted humor. Sizing up the situation in a few amusingly concise words was his unique gift to all that enjoyed is company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Teresa Iler; his wife Cecelia “Sue” (nee Kelley) Iler; a son, Steven Edward Iler and a daughter Cheryl Jourdain. Don is survived by daughter, Julie Iler (Alphonse Evans); grandchildren, Jasmin Billings (Erick) and Alexander Evans; our dear brother, uncle and friend who will be missed.
