Don Selman, age 100 years, was born on November 23, 1920 in New Windsor, New York and passed away on February 20, 2021. A retired dairy farmer, Don farmed in two states and three counties - Orange County, New York, Dogwood Farm Road and Chupp Road in DeKalb County, Georgia and Hwy 155 in Henry County, Georgia. Don graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1938. He was named DeKalb County Young Farmer of the year in 1956. He was a member of the DeKalb Breeders Association, Chairman of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Georgia Milk Producer’s Association and Board of Directors for the Atlanta Dairies Cooperative. Don was a longtime fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He attended First Baptist Church of McDonough and was a member of the Carey Coan Sunday School Class. Don is predeceased by Alice White Selman, wife of twenty-five years; parents Edward and Marie Seitz Selman, Grandchildren Timothy and Bryan Rose and David Leon Gibson, Jr. Don is survived by Irma G. Selman, wife of forty-six years; children, Beverly (Marvin) Rose of McDonough, Georgia; Donna Selman Jones of Conyers, Georgia; Kathy (Steve) Moss of McDonough, Wayne (Sherrie) Selman Hampton, Kathy Selman of Texas; Connie Selman of Williamson, Georgia; David (Holly) Gibson of Ashburn, Georgia and Lynn Gibson of Jackson, Georgia; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Dr. Charles Thomas will officiate Mr. Selman's funeral at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Decatur, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions to the church.
