Born in Vila Franco Do Campo Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Alcina (Tadeu) Riquinha.
John was a dedicated Laborer Foreman of J.F White Construction for 30 years. Upon retiring from construction he became a greensman for Black Diamond Golf Course in Lecanto, Florida. He had recently retired and spent his free time working in his yard, fishing, and kayaking. He enjoyed relaxing while watching pet goats and playing with his dog Austin.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Timothy Riquinha and his wife Lysendra of Fall River; his daughter Jennifer Farland and her husband Thomas of Acushnet; as well his beloved grandchildren Benjamin, Jaryd, Riley, Jayda, Ethan, and Xander. He is also survived by his brothers, Antonio Riquinha and his wife Alice of Spring Hill Florida and Carlos Riquinha and his wife June of New Bedford. His sisters, Rosa Salema and her husband Edward of North Dartmouth and Liberta Camara and her husband John of Acushnet. He has also left behind several nieces and nephews and was a respected friend in his community.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Due to Covid restrictions, burial will be private. His visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA 02745. Please be mindful that guests may have to wait outside while others pay their respects.
