Michael was born on June 17, 1959 in Martinsburg, West Virginia by his parents, the late Earl and Audrey Callahan. He was the youngest of three children. Growing up, Michael enjoyed playing football and baseball. He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1977 and married his high-school sweetheart Ruth Anne (née Kilmer) in 1980. Michael originally attended Virginia Military Institute on a football scholarship before transferring to West Virginia University. He graduated in 1981 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and almost immediately after college, Michael worked for DuPont until 1997. From 1997 on, he worked for Accenture. Michael and Ruth Anne eventually grew their family to include three boys: Carter, Hunter, and Bee. Sadly, Ruth Anne passed away in 1998.
Michael’s work gave him and his family the opportunity to live in Thailand for two years and
share many unique and exciting experiences together, whether it was sharing the pain of spicy Thai food or enjoying the gorgeous countryside of France.
Michael met his current wife Lisa (née Zirolli) in September of 2012 and were married almost exactly one year later. Since they met, they were inseparable. They loved spending time at the beach and shared their love, memories, and energy with all of their family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother Charles “Buddy”, his first wife Ruth Anne and their
daughter Emma Catherine, and his nieces Wendy and Shelley Price.
He is survived by his wife Lisa; their three sons: Carter and his wife Alyssa, Hunter and his longtime girlfriend Kaitie, and his youngest son Earl “Bee”; his eldest sister Betty “Jean” Fulk and her husband David; cousin Skip who was like another brother to Michael; together with many other nieces and nephews.
Some of his favorite hobbies include things like woodworking and building furniture. He loved paying bills and keeping up with the big old house he once owned. He was a very kind and quiet man with a great sense of humor. He loved his family very much and would do anything he could for them.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 10 A.M., with a visitation at 9 A.M. at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Wayne, PA. Alleva Funeral Home, in Paoli, is assisting the family with arrangements.
