He is survived by his daughter Linda (Scott) Lloyd, 2 Grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephen McCrory was born, August 4, 1930 in Pueblo Colorado, to his parents Helen (Urban) McCrory and Vernon McCrory. More affectionately known as Steve, he was the second oldest, and first-born son in a family of 4 children. Steve and his family lived the majority of their time in Pueblo.
At the age of 16 Steve went to work to help support the family. Starting at the bottom of the totem pole, cleaning up and doing various jobs at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company where he retired from there after over 35 years working in the Field Fence Department as a mechanic making chain-length fencing.
Steve met the love of his life, Darlene Huffman, and they were married March 25, 1951.
A few months later on May 31, 1951, Steve was called to service with the Army. Attending bootcamp in New Jersey, he was soon shipped over seas to serve in the Fifth field artillery, First division in Kitzingen, Germany during the post war reconstruction. He worked on the communication lines - Installing lines and receiving and sending information for the officers and his division; using morse code and other correspondence used at the time. Steve served there for 18 months and was discharged January 15th 1953.
Steve and Darlene were reunited to begin their lives together, and made their home in Pueblo. Steve returned back to work at the CF&I.
Steve and Darlene always loved to travel, camp and fish. They always considered family their number one priority.
In May of 1958, Steve and Darlene welcomed their daughter, Linda, into the world. Making a warm, loving and home for themselves and welcomed anyone who would come to visit.,
Steve was rarely out-fished and the best river fishermen around. Learning this skill from his Uncle Leo, Steve taught multiple family members and friends the proper way to fish, watch the the lay of the river and to “think like a fish”.
Steve’s other hobbies were, carpentry, (updating their house) wood working, wood carving, gardening, jewelry making, pen making. And tinkering in the kitchen. Known for his brisket
Steve and Darlene celebrated 65 years of marriage and continued to share their love with each other and every one they met.
They were members of many organizations, among many of them were Church, Good Sam’s, and volunteering at the Pueblo Cooperate Care Center.
Darlene passed away Nov. 28,2016. Steve made the best of his loss and his failing health. Always trying to keep a positive attitude.
As Father, Grandfather, Uncle and dear friend, Steve will truly be missed. He took part of our hearts with him but left us with wonderful, fond memories.
