She was born in Baxley, Georgia on May 16, 1936 and grew up in Jacksonville. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She was married to her best friend for 47 years and was a full-time homemaker. She was Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Stars and a member of the church of Christ (Lake Forest Congregation).
She was preceded in death by her loving husband John Edward Plinka and infant son John Edward Plinka, Jr. She is survived by her children; son, Steven E. Plinka (Beverly); three daughters, Cathie Burns (Michael), Connie Carver (Steve), and Cindy Young (Michael); six grandchildren, John Plinka, Michelle Vance (Josh), Sean Burns (Megan), Ryan Burns, Christopher D’Zamko (Jamie) and Daniel Young; six great grandchildren, Seth, Sofia and Scout D’Zamko, Hunter and Alex Jones, and Austin Vance. Close friend, Kathy Hay; cousin, Ann and numerous nephews and nieces, extended family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 26th at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd. with Ryan Frederick officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 25th at the Legacy Lodge. Donations maybe made to Vitas Hospice, Vitas community Connection.
