Surrounded by his loving family, William R. “Willy” Fitzsimons went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2021, at the age of only 55 after a two year hard-fought battle with cancer. Willy was a long-time faithful, diligent and loyal employee of McGill Engineering Corporation (“MEI”), working as Vice President of Operations in Tampa, Florida. He is credited with the creation and operations of the branch of MEI located in India as well. He took great pride in his work and had a work ethic beyond compare. He loved honing his marksman skills, playing the guitar and studying and practicing his Christian faith. Willy’s family and friends could always count on his quiet, steady strength and support. He was always the voice of reason and never hesitated to help those in need. He was the best husband, son, dad, grand-dad, brother, uncle and friend a person could ever hope to have.
He is survived by his parents, William J. Fitzsimons and Shirley Fitzsimons of Pace; his loving wife, Brenda Joyce Fitzsimons of Pensacola; step-children, Shea Doucette (Robert) of Molino, Renee Preston (Wayne) of Pensacola, and Amy Guyton (Adam Kennedy) of Pensacola; step-grandchildren, Megan Doucette, Stephanie Odom (Dustin), Josie Leonard (Caleb), Millie Smith, Maggie Busbee, Max Busbee, and Ava Preston; step-great-grandchildren, Emma Odom and Vera Kate Leonard; a brother, Michael Fitzsimons of Pace; a sister, Carrie Hill (Douglas) of Carmel, Indiana; nieces, Emily Fitzsimons and Lucy Hill; and nephews, David Fitzsimons and Miles Hill.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the family and friends who provided prayers and support during and after Willy’s illness.
