He was born on Oct 23, 1954, in Glens Falls, NY, the son of the late Marvin and Caroline
LaCarte.
In 1977, Joe served as a Radio Communications Operator in the 10th Marines 2nd Marine Division of the United States Marine Corps. In 1983, as a Lance Corporal, he was honorably discharged from the military.
On April 9, 1983, Joe married Gail L. (Henry) LaCarte in Hudson Falls, NY and together they had one son, Joseph R LaCarte Jr.
He loved to help in his community, especially by volunteering with the Kingsbury Volunteer Fire
Department in Kingsbury, New York.
Joe enjoyed having backyard barbecues and smoking food for family gatherings. But most of all, he loved being a mentor to his son, grandchildren, family and friends. Joe touched the lives of so many over the years in both New York and Arizona. Many of which consider him an extended family member.
Unfortunately, in October 2005, his wife Gail passed away from cancer. Joe knew that he had to keep up with the life that he and Gail had planned for their son, Joseph Jr, and staying in Arizona is what they did.
Joe is survived by his son, Joseph (Jessica) LaCarte Jr and three grandchildren; Shea, Hailey and Aiden. He is also survived by his siblings, Marva Henderson of Hudson Falls/Arizona and Karen Kelley of Hudson Falls along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Unfortunately, due to current COVID restrictions, the memorial service in Arizona will be limited to immediate family. However, a celebration of life will follow the memorial for extended family and friends. Also, a celebration of life service will be held in upstate New York at the convenience of the family later this year. Information will be posted on Joe LaCarte Sr. Facebook page as they are available. All current safety mandates at the time of services will be followed.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Banner Thunderbird
ICU/COVID Care Unit in Glendale, Arizona for the care and compassion shown to Joe and his family during this time.
Memorials, cards or donations in the memory of Joseph R LaCarte Sr, may be sent to his son
Joseph LaCarte Jr at 12621 N. 37th Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85029.
