Susan Ella Davis, 74, was born in Richford, Vermont on July 20, 1946, to Mildred (DeColaines) Davis and Gordon M. Davis. At the age of 7 days, Susy had a hemorrhage of the brain and experienced a mental challenge that she dealt with her whole life. One of four children, Susy lived at home with her family before moving to the Walter E Fernald State School in Massachusetts, where she spent the majority of her life.
Susy had a loving family that visited her often and brought her home for weekends and holidays. Susy had an infectious laugh and loved to explore on walks and car rides, accompanied by her ever-present iced coffee. For the last few years of her life, Susy lived in a supportive group home with friends and an incredibly giving and dedicated staff in Walpole, Massachusetts. She spent many days working with flowers and plants at the Fernald Greenhouse. She had a huge collection of stuffed animals and enjoyed playing bingo, balloon volleyball, and crafting with friends at the Norwood Adult Day Care. Her family thanks her wonderful caregivers and the fantastic doctors and nurses that helped her in her last days.
She is survived by her sister Sally Smith and her husband Steven and brother Peter Davis and his wife Dorothy; numerous nieces and nephews, and her huge extended family at her group home in Walpole.
J.S. Waterman-Langone Chapel will arrange for her cremation and she will be privately interred at Berlin Corners Cemetery in Berlin Corners, Vermont, alongside her grandparents and other family.
There will be a virtual memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Special Olympics of Massachusetts
