Michael Neale Carl, 73, was called home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on February 27, 2021. He lived a good and faithful life as a father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, as well as a devoted “Man of God.” He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis N. and Marjorie Nell (Bunker) Carl. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Catherine (McQuay), daughters Melissa M. Bridgett (Richard) and Erica N. Korns and her fiancé Erik Anthony. Also left to mourn his passing are his sister Dianne Johnson, brother Kevin Carl (Becki), devoted niece Tammy Navarre (Larry), along with grandchildren Kaelyn N. Bryant (Michael), Aaron J. Bridgett (Natalie), Eric M.M. Bridgett (Haley), Emilie E. Korns, Jacob R. Korns, Ethan and Elise Anthony. He also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren, Ava Bridgett, Michael Bryant III, Madelyn Bryant, Eleanor Bridgett, & Josephine Bridgett, in addition to many other nieces, nephews, & cousins. He is also survived by his first wife, Mihwa (Kim) Carl and many dear neighbors and friends.
Michael was a graduate of Fairmont East HS in Kettering, Ohio. He served his country with pride, dignity and honor as a SGT and member of the US Army Security Agency from 1967-1975, in Shemya, AK, Chitose Japan, and on the Korean DMZ. He was medically retired from the US Army as a result of injuries received during the Vietnam era. He attended the Ohio State University and was a member of the Army ROTC in their Pershing Rifles fraternity. He also attended Wright-State University and Capital University in Electrical Engineering. He worked for NCR as a Technical Engineer, and several Defense contractors as an Intelligence Analyst. He was medically retired from the Kettering Police Department as their Computer Systems Administrator. Michael was also an avid woodworker and stained-glass artist and also worked as a salesman and woodworking instructor.
He was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kettering, OH, serving in many capacities especially in music groups, and on the Trustee Board. But his favorite joy was teaching children during Vacation Bible School. Michael created memorable characters to help impart the stories of the Bible. He was a true “Storyteller” of the highest caliber and his love of history led him to historical reenactment where he told anecdotes to audiences about life in the early years of our nation. He was an active member of the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment. Michael will be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor and willingness to help all who needed it.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a “Celebration of Life” service will be held Saturday May 15, 2021 at 1pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kettering, Ohio.
