Frances Ethel White Beam, born January 20, 1924 in Blytheville, AR, passed away on March 1, 2021 in Dallas, TX. She was a 1941 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School where she was Football Sweetheart and met Roy Beam. They were married in 1942 as he prepared to serve in the Army in North Africa and Italy during WWII. She showed great strength throughout his status as MIA and his stint as a German POW. Frances began her career as a PBX operator at Gulf Insurance, eventually becoming a bookkeeper at various companies over the years. She lived a life of service as a PTA president, Girl Scout troop leader, president of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary and supporting Roy’s many post-military organizations. Family was the most important thing to her and she loved to entertain them, preparing dishes like her famous biscuits and chocolate cake. Living on a farm in Mesquite, she canned and preserved a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, always sharing with others. She was also an accomplished seamstress and loved to crochet afghans and baby blankets for friends and family. Frances always said the most important thing in life was to love and be loved. She lived that every day.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Roy Beam, her parents, Fred and Ethel White, sister Joyce Smith and brother Freddie White. Survived by her cherished daughter Zazelle Wingo and husband, Richard, who was like a son to her; her precious grandsons Scott of Arlington, VA and Jay of New York City; and extended family.
