Doolia Seepersaud was born on January 15th, 1941 to the parents of Seepersaud (Sonny) Jagat and Chowrasia (Kathleen) Jagat in 72 Village Corentyne-Berbice, Guyana. She was the sister of the late Pulbas, Margaret, Irene, Suresh, Eddie, and Narine (Baba). Throughout her life, she brought forth six children: David, Finey, Dewan, Latcho, Debbie, and Gevin.
Doolia was the grandmother of Nerissa, the late Nevil, Bianca, Raj, Trevor, Ashley, Devi, Cassie, Narayan, and Shannon. She had one great grandchild, Louis. She was a beloved aunt and cousin to many.
In her early life, Doolia completed school up to third standard/fourth grade. Around the age of 10, she stopped attending to assist with family obligations.
At the age of 17, Doolia was married. By the age of 22, she was the mother of 4 children. Later in life, she had 2 more children. She was a single mother of six children. Life was challenging for Doolia. In order to provide for her children, she worked very hard. She fished, worked in the fields, farmed, and sacrificed much more.
She was an extraordinary human being. She never put herself first. She always put others’ wants and needs before her own. She was an extremely giving individual. Everyone who knows her can agree that she was a hard worker and a genuinely caring person. She always wanted to take care of her loved ones and make things easier for everyone. She was also devoted to God unconditionally. She recited her prayers up until her very last breath.
In 1992, Doolia immigrated to the United States. Life was still challenging for her because most of her children were still in Guyana. Eventually, she became complete when all of her children moved on to better opportunities, internationally. After she settled in the US, she focused on helping out with her grandchildren.
Doolia enjoyed various activities. Her main source of happiness was providing for her loved ones, but other things she enjoyed include cooking, sewing, drawing, coloring, reading, telling stories, watching her favorite TV shows, and spending time with her best friends.
She was an outstanding grandmother. Her love was unconditional. She was also a selfless friend; someone you could count on. She was a safe haven for many throughout her life. She had a profound impact on the lives she touched. Her sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Doolia’s wisdom and wit will be missed dearly by her loved ones. We will cherish the wisdom and blessings she graced us with forever. The Almighty has taken her to a better place, where she is now freed from this material world and is now traveling a journey back to her creator.
