Born in Santiago, Chile, on November 23, 1952, he came to the United States in 1963 at age 11. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1974, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal–Korea, after which he was employed as a master welder at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Solomon and their son, Jake, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; daughter Jessica (Mrs. Tim) McMahon of Middletown, and her mother, Dorothy Klubek Schulke; his devoted sister, Maria Rose (Mrs. Dan) McNamara of West Hartford; nieces Shawna Tasto-Bell and Brianna Tasto, and nephew Noah Fill; grandchildren Katelyn, Derek, and Mila McMahon. He was predeceased by his mother, Gina Poliferno, and his stepfather, Salvatore Poliferno.
Family and friends are invited Saturday, March 27th, 2021 at 11AM for a Prayer Service with full military honors at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown – at the Mausoleum/Columbarium area (ahead on your right and to the right of the parking area). Please observe all social distancing guidelines and face coverings required.
