Frank O. Baker passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St.Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. He was born April 20, 1935 in Huntington, West Virginia to Jack Earle Baker (formerly Oscar Bruce) and Maye Eileen Denham. He and his mother moved back to the Pacific Northwest where he grew up in the Seattle area, before moving to Baker, Oregon to live with his Denham grandparents. He joined the army from high school, and married Katherine Linda Wilmot at Chapel-on-the-Hill at Fort Lawton, Seattle in June 1960. He served overseas in Germany and Korea, and returned stateside to Texas. Upon retiring from the army in 1973, Frank and Kathy relocated to Washington State and Frank gained employment with the United States Post Office, from which he retired in 1999. Frank has been a long time resident of Federal Way, Washington.
Frank enjoyed long drives, eating out, movies, fairs, parades, trains, cars, historical sites, nature, traveling, anything military related, and music. He loved connecting with family in Alabama by facetime or visits there. He cherished reunions with his Denham side in Oregon and special occasions with his Seattle family. He treasured his pre-Covid lunches out with fellow USPS retirees and men's Bible study with friends from the First Baptist Church in Federal Way, his church home. Known as "Uncle Frank," he lived his last three plus years at Laurelwood Manor, close to his home neighborhood in Federal Way. Frank supported all Veteran causes and also had a soft spot for animals in need. He adored his rescue cat, Mitzy and later, his adopted feral cat, Three Paws.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife for 49 years, Kathy Baker, and her sisters and their husbands, Barbara and Bill Hart and Jean and Tom Griffith. One nephew, Michael Hart, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his nephews, Bill Hart(Sandra) of Aguascalientes, Mexico and Philip Griffith of Calhan, Colorado, and nieces, Brenda Steadham(Buck) of Foley, Alabama, Deborah Griffith Houston(Barry) of Mountlake Terrace, Washington, Bonnie Davis(Mike) of Bay Minnette, Alabama, Susan Griffith(Drew Fillipo), Carol Griffith Konswa(Sam), and Terri Griffith(GarySink) of Seattle, Washington. He also is survived by many grand and great nieces and nephews who held him fondly in their hearts.

A visitation for Frank will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133-8244. A graveside service will occur be held at a later date.
