Thomas was born in Bridgeport on May 22, 1941, the son of the late Thomas Joseph Tuzzio and the late Elizabeth Nagy Tuzzio, and grew up in Bridgeport and Fairfield. After graduating from Andrew Warde High School, Thomas attended the University of Bridgeport and studied engineering before going to work at Perkin Elmer. He married Patricia Anne Kalapir on July 24, 1965. He had a long career as an optician, crafting glass pieces for the U.S. government and the space program. Thomas and Patricia lived in Redding for 36 years until moving to Griswold in 2004. His beloved wife passed away in 2009.
Thomas loved cars, golf, bowling, tracking hurricanes and enjoying life with friends and family, always giving nicknames and making people laugh. He was a deeply kind and compassionate friend, devoted husband and father, and enthusiastic and loving grandfather.
Thomas is survived by his loving family, daughter, Bethann Thompson and her husband, John of North Stonington; grandchildren, Malcolm, Thomas, Ethan and Stella Thompson; brother, Richard Tuzzio of Fairfield; brother-in-law, Andre Kalapir and his wife, Kathleen of Fairfield; and two nephews, Erik Kalapir of Fairfield and Alan Kalapir of Trumbull.
