Josie loved to travel with her sister Sofia when ever she could. She moved to Denver 2003 from Erie, Colorado where she moved to in 1970 from Round Lake, Illinois to be closer to family. When she was young, she traveled around the United states as a farm worker. She didn’t speak much of her younger years. When we would ask her how old she was she would joke that she was 200. We all laugh about that till this day. She had a great sense of humor and we did laugh often.
For many years Josie would take care of other children in Erie, Colorado. She had many favorites throughout the years and would still take care of her great grandchildren in the recent years. She loved to go to Black Hawk and Central City. She played cards with many of her friends in her apartment complex and enjoyed going to the various senior centers for activities and playing bingo.
Josie is survived by her sister, Sofia Lopez, Yolanda Bolivar and brother in law, Lou Monge. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Aaron Yslas, Yolanda Yslas, Ray Yslas, Tisoq Yslas, Olivia Martinez and Robert Yslas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in her death by her sister, Ermalinda Monge, Brothers, Lupe Lopez, Beto Lopez and daughters, Olga Reese and Christina Yslas -Avita.
