Gloria Nysson-Slagter, age 83 of Jenison, passed away on March 24, 2021. Gloria was known for her infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the room. Born and raised in Wyoming, MI, she loved spending time with her family and many friends.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents John and Alyda VanArk; husbands Warren Nysson and Lloyd Slagter; and brother, Bunk VanArk. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her: sister, Sandy (Bob) Katsma; sister-in-law, Norma VanArk; daughters Nancy (Tom) Armock and Betsy (Tom) Goldsmith. Gloria was known by many names such as Grandma Glo by Warren (Kayli), Michael, and Jonathan (Kelsie) Armock; Nana by Trace, Lakynn, and Cole Goldsmith; Shama by Brennen and Ashlyn Westra; GG Glo by MaKenna, Brody, baby boy Armock (due Aug.); Go Go by Chuck, Susan, Tristen, and Ellie Martinie. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and stepchildren.
Gloria’s working career spanned a variety of jobs in customer service where she was in her element working with people - notably Koeze, Emdin’s, and especially Pfeffer’s Pharmacy for over 15 years. She was a woman of prayer with a deep faith in God and compassion for others.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and staff at Sunset Reflections in Jenison, MI, for providing extraordinary care.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. A private family service will follow.
