Dick Lusardo died peacefully on March 27, 2021, with his family by his side, at Baptist Health Hospital, Louisville, KY. He was 86 years old. He was born on October 29, 1934 to Carmine and Concetta (Cassalia) Lusardo, in Port Chester, New York. He graduated from Harrison High School, Harrison, New York, in 1952. He continued his education at Rider University, Trenton, New Jersey and graduated in 1956 with a B. S. degree. While at Rider, he was president of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity, Beta Xi chapter, from 1955-1956. On September 26, 1959 he married Anita Morella, from Harrison, New York. Over the years, his job in sales kept him and his family traveling and living in five different states. He moved to Louisville in 1974, liked it and decided to stay. Dick retired in 1996, from Levi Strauss and Co. after spending most of his career in the men's clothing industry. His retirement years were spent in Port Charlotte, Florida during the winter months. He also got to enjoy time with his brother and two sisters, who also lived in Florida. While living at Newport Condos, he started and was involved in many social activities. He also was a member of the St. Al's Aces senior group. Dick had a great sense of humor, was very creative, and loved making 3-D artwork for friends and especially his family. He was a man of good character and kindness, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anita Lusardo, sons, Rick (Susy), Steve and Jeff (Julia), brother, Michael (Jean), sisters Julie (Joe) Deschenes and Beverly Burrell, five grandsons, Nicolas, Christopher, Matthew, Hayden, and Daniel, and one granddaughter, Gabriella. He will also be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family appreciates all the care he received from his doctors and nurses while at Baptist Health.
Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home located at 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40222 on Wednesday April 7, 2021 from 2-7pm. A mass will be held at St. Albert the Great Church, 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville, Kentucky, 40222 on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 11:00am.
