Sean was born on Friday, August 3, 1990 to Michael and Jennifer Cockrell Bartie. God trusted us to love, nurture and train our son according to his Word. Sean brought so much love and joy into our lives and to those who were around him.
Sean was raised in Creole, Louisiana. He was baptized by the Rev. Lannis Joseph at the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Cameron; formerly Ebenezer Baptist Church located in Creole, Louisiana. He was a member of the Children and Youth Ministries, sang in the choir, and member of the Children’s Drill Team. He was educated in the Cameron Parish School System. Due to the devastation of Cameron Parish by Hurricanes Rita and Ike, in September of 2009 the family moved to Lake Charles.
As a young boy in Cameron, Louisiana he loved playing outdoors with his many cousins. He always carried a beautiful smile. He enjoyed playing video games, baseball and basketball in his grandparents’ front yard. Sean was loving, kindhearted and loved by all who knew and encountered him. He loved his children and family, he was a hard worker, a dedicated friend and did I mention, he could cook. Throughout his many struggles and mistakes made in his adult life, he was not perfect but he served a perfect God and he knew the power of prayer.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rudolph Bartie.
Our Sean will be forever missed by his son, Kayden Bartie; his daughters, Makenna and Zuri Bartie; parents, Michael Bartie and Jennifer Cockrell Bartie; his sister, Sasha Gaskins; grandparents, Russell and Ruby Cockrell; grandmother, Eula Mae Bartie; a special aunt, Mary Ann January; a special friend, Taylor Watkins and her daughter Jensen; all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, Lake Charles, on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Combre Memorial Park.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.JEHixson.com for the Bartie family.
