He was born September 10, 1940 in the Bronx to George & Grace Carroll Manning.
George attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine & received a Masters from Fordham University. On
October 25, 1975 he married the Love of his Life, Kathy Mary O’Connor.
George taught at Brooklyn College & Seton Hall University before switching careers. He
worked as a Consumer Relations Representative for over 28 years at Minolta Corporation.
After retirement, he worked at Kelleher Appliance Service with the wonderful DeMarzo Brothers.
George not only taught CCD but was also a Eucharist Minister at St. Christopher’s Church in
Buchanan. He became a Ham Operator at 16 years old (K2RRR) & later was involved with
WECA's ‘Operation Santa’ at Blythdale Hospital. He also served for years on the Board of
Managers at Coachlight Square.
He had a passion for: his Family, his cats, cruises, reading, astronomy, Ham Radio,
Mathematics, wine, music, collecting pens & watches, but most of all watching Meaghan play
Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune and watching basketball with her.
George is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy; daughter, Meaghan Carroll Manning;
beloved sister-in-Law, Jane (Pete) Macaluso; niece, Gillian (Carmine) Kate Azzaro; nephew, Patrick John Fitzgerald, great niece, Ashley Mae Azzaro & great nephew, Ryan Michael Azzaro and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by daughter, Stephanie Anne Manning
George had a dry sense of humor & a love for life!!!
