Born March 19, 1956 in East Stroudsburg he was the son of June (Getz) and Lyle F. Staples, Sr, both deceased. He was raised by a wonderful stepfather, Louis Messerle (deceased).
Lyle was a graduate of East Stroudsburg’s class of 1974. He worked at many local businesses in his younger years, until finding his profession & passion in cooking. He was a professed, self-taught chef and known as the local soup “nazi.” He retired in 2019. He enjoyed antiques & collectibles for many things, camping, canoeing, casino games, reading and going to his favorite beach in South Carolina every year. He was a great caterer of family and friend events, and was active with the Bushkill Historical Society and always attended and enjoyed the events.
He and his wife Constance L. (Evans) were married on 09/25/1983. He resided in the Wooddale area with his loving wife, father in law Richard VanWhy and his beloved dog LuLu.
He is survived by 4 sisters Sara Mae Ace and husband Harold (Toot) of Bushkill, Marlys Whitney and her husband James of Effort, Patsy Garris and her husband Dave of Bushkill, Deb Campuzano and her husband “Gus” of Bushkill. One brother Kerry Messerle and his wife Rebecca of Shickshinny and 2 brother-in-law’s Kurt Evans of East Stroudsburg and Thomas Evans and his wife Suki of Columbus, NJ and their family. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was blessed to be godfather to 3 young men - Brenton Hartle, Kevin Hill and Cory Taylor. He was a special "uncle" to 2 young women, Stephanie Lester and Ashley Hezel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, a sister Linda (Getz) Plattenberg Holmes, several aunts and uncles and a very special niece Jennifer Ace.
Lyle always enjoyed spending time with family and friends and he loved them all. He never had a bad thing to say.
At Lyle’s request, there will be no services.
