On March 26, 2021, Sally Connell Dixon went home to be with her Lord, and to join with her daddy, Reuben Connell, who left us while she was 5 months pregnant, and to join her husband, Donald Dixon, who passed on December 24, 2019. What a joyous reunion they are having in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sally was born in Brewster, Florida, to Reuben and Oveda Connell, and later moved to Lakeland, Florida. (She graduated from Mulberry High School.) It was at her parents’ house that she met the love of her life, Donald, a college friend of her brothers. (It must have been love at first sight because she had curlers in her hair.) They later married on February 5, 1960, and had their only child, Catherine, in 1963 in Orlando, Florida. Years later, they settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Sally dedicated herself to being a wife and mother.
After moving to Greensboro, North Carolina, with American Express, in 1985, Sally and Donald built a home where they would live for the rest of their lives. Sally was a member of Grace Community Church where she was a vital part of its Wednesday Night Dinners for the needy.
Sally was predeceased by her husband, Donald, to whom she was married for 59 years, her parents, her brother, Reuben Connell, her sister- and brother-in-law, Joyce and Curtis Gause, and her niece, Peggy Gause. Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Lynn Dixon, along with her niece and her husband, Carolyn and Dean Leboeuf, and their children, her nephew and his wife, Jeff and Kelly Gause, and their children, her sister-in-law, Sue Connell, her nephew, Craig Connell, and special family friend, Jackie Tester.
Sally is already missed so much, but her remaining family rejoices in knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and her husband, Donald (whom she lovingly referred to as Donny). Knowing that she is in Heaven brings great comfort.
No services will be held. Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel is assisting the Dixon family. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.haneslineberryfhnorthelm.com.
