Doris H. Zeprun (Brockman) passed away on March 29, 2021 at the age of 86. Doris was the wife of the late Jack M. Zeprun; mother of Judy Zeprun Kalman (Barney); Rochelle Z. Novack (Robert); and Howard Zeprun (Dr. Jane Chueh); grandmother (“Nunna”) of Tara J. Davis (Evan), Brittany L. Perlis (Michael), Brandon S. Novack, Marilena Zeprun, and Leah Chueh; and great-grandmother of Noah Perlis, Emma Perlis, Aiden Davis, and Mason Davis.
Doris was an extraordinary and talented woman who worked tirelessly until retirement, managing a family-owned business, Zeppy’s Baigel Bakery of Randolph, while raising a family in Milton. She also loved her escapes to Cape Cod with Jack and her family. Doris deeply believed in honesty, integrity, and that the way to overcome obstacles and challenges was through determination and hard work. She would say, "If you want to get something done, do it yourself." She also cared deeply about others and always exuded warmth and graciousness. She was an accomplished baker and chef who gladly shared her recipes by publishing her own cookbook, was an avid reader, and enjoyed painting. Doris took up golf initially in order to spend more time with Jack, quickly realized how much she loved the game, and was quite good at it.
The lovely Doris was voted "Roxbury's Most Popular Kid Sister" as a young teen. Throughout her life she was an impeccable and stylish dresser. She was lovingly described as “matchy-matchy,” always coordinating her hats, shoes, and handbags. Doris was also the ultimate organizer and party planner, entertaining many friends and family, especially after she and Jack retired to Florida. In later years, Doris returned to Massachusetts and was an active resident at Fox Hill Village in Westwood.
In addition to her immediate family, Doris leaves her sister and best friend Marilyn Geller (Israel, deceased) and her devoted brother and sister-in-law Allyn and Elaine Brockman. In addition, she is survived by many loved nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Lester Brockman and his wife Dorothy. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law Maria Tai Wolff.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
Throughout her life Doris gave generously to her favorite charities. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Hadassah at www.hadassah.org.
