Architectural Historian Vincent Marsh died peacefully at his Palm Springs home. He was 73. Vincent is survived by his brother, Frank Jr. (Matilda) Scaramuzzo; his sister MaryAnn (David Aguiar) Patota; his nephews John Patota and Andrew (Stephanie Driscoll) Patota. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Scaramuzzo Sr., and his mother, Theresa Scaramuzzo (neé Masciarelli).
Vincent served as Preservation Director for San Francisco throughout the 1990's and for Sacramento in the early 2000's. He was an advocate for historic preservation causes and a mentor to many. He served on the boards of the California Preservation Foundation, the Friends of 1800 and the San Francisco Preservation Consortium. He retired to the Garden Villas at the Racquet Club in Palm Springs in 2005. There he continued his consulting practice and served on the Palm Springs Historic Site Preservation Board.
Vincent enjoyed entertaining and was known for his love of architectural books, film and music. He was a longstanding fan of the San Francisco Symphony and the American Conservatory Theater. He received an undergraduate degree from SUNY at Buffalo and master's degrees from the University of Connecticut and Cornell University with a specialization in historic preservation. He also attended the MIT Urban Studies Program.
