Jasper Kirk, 83, was born in Cobb County, Ga, on June 18, 1937, to parents James T. Kirk and Hattie Almester (Waldrop) Kirk. He remained a resident of Roswell his entire life. Jasper attended Roswell High School, played football, ran track and field, and graduated in 1956. Afterward, he joined the National Guard and started working at Retail Credit. He reenlisted two more times after his first term and spent a total of eight years in the National Guard, where he received an Honorable Discharge after each term. On April 5, 1963, Jasper married the love of his life, Betty (Cagle) Kirk, and had three daughters. Jasper served his community of Roswell by working as a member of the Roswell Jaycees and coaching football at the Roswell Recreation Center.
Jasper was a mentor to many young men through his coaching. He was not only a great father to his daughters; he was also a father figure to many family friends. Jasper enjoyed playing tennis on the Alta team in Roswell and playing volleyball with Roswell's First Baptist Church team. He also loved to play golf every chance he got and taking many golf trips to various places with dear frineds. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He loved going to the Bulldog football games; then as he got older, you could always find him Saturday sitting in his recliner watching the football game. Jasper was always there to support his family. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and friend to all who had the honor of knowing him. Jasper taught his daughters a strong work ethic and was always there to give advice. He worked at R.R. Donnelly for 58 years before retiring at age 80. He is preceded in death by his sister Sara (Kirk) Pruitt, brothers Robert Kirk, Bruce Kirk, and Joesph Kirk. Survivors include his sister Sandra (Kirk) Davis, wife Betty (Cagle) Kirk, daughters, Ginger Kirk, Cheryl Kirk, and Andrea (Kirk) Perry, as well as his grandson William Perry. He passed away on April 1, 2021, of heart failure and many medical issues.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at the Roswell Funeral Home on Mansell Road in Roswell on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
