Sandra Akridge, 65, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2021, in Baytown, Texas. She fought a courageous battle for over a year but lost her life to ALS.
Sandra Akridge was born on December 3, 1955, in Houston, Texas to Jeanette and Clyde Mayfield. She was the 2nd child and only daughter of six children. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and lived in Baytown most of her life. She was married to John Akridge and had one daughter, Krystal Akridge Gannon. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was an Eastern Star.
Sandra is survived by her daughter Krystal and husband Daryl Gannon, and Sandra’s granddaughters Sadie and Millie Gannon of The Woodlands, TX.; her mother, Jeanette Hobbs, of Baytown, TX; her brother Cliff and wife Michelle, and Sandra’s niece and nephews Catherine, Christian, and Raymond Mayfield of Wills Point, TX; and her brother Ronnie and nieces Kaleigh and Ireland Mayfield of Mont Belvieu, TX.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Mayfield; her stepfather, Hugh Hobbs; her brothers, Steve Chris & Raymond Mayfield; and her husband, John Akridge.
Sandra will be remembered as a high-energy, strong-willed, and hard-working independent woman. She was always there to help her friends and family. Sandra retired in 2019 and loved spending her time outdoors and gardening. Her favorite flower is a yellow rose, and she loved the color purple. More than anything else she loved and adored her granddaughters.
