Luetta "Lue" Lillian Morrissey

of Elk Creek, Nebraska. She lived on the family farm in Elk Creek until meeting and marrying

Pierie Morrissey, their wedding taking place on January 1, 1944 with their first of their eight children

coming at the end of 1944. Their son was followed by six more sons and one daughter, the light of

both their lives. Lue and Pierie moved from Lincoln, Nebraska to Oklahoma City on Memorial Day,

1960 for Pierie to take a job at the new Western Electric plant just then opening. It took a couple

of years for them to switch their football allegiance from the Cornhuskers to the Sooners but when

they did, it was permanent giving rise to a long rivalry with their family still living up north. Lue’s

greatest joy in life was watching her children grow and enjoying their company. She also really

enjoyed ballroom dancing and big band music. After losing her husband, Pierie, way too soon in

1990, she continued with a very active life until finally slowing down and entering the St. Ann’s

nursing facility several years ago. Her children and family continued visiting Lue at St. Ann’s until

their in-person visits were interrupted by last year’s health care crisis. Even though they couldn’t

visit her in person, they continued with at least weekly window visits, the last one being held on

Palm Sunday. When in person visits were finally resumed at St. Ann’s within the recent weeks and

she was finally able to hug her children again, Lue decided her time on earth could end. She left this

life on Good Friday in the arms of her daughter, Debbie. Lue was predeceased by her husband

Pierie, son Steve Morrissey, great grandson Nathan Colon, brothers Glen Krueger, Clem Krueger,

Leland Krueger and sister Leona Hall. She is survived by her children Gary Morrissey and wife

Kathy, daughter in law Mary Ellen Morrissey, sons Terry, Dan, Dennis and best friend Tina, Rodney,

David and Debbie Hane, her husband Lee, and brother Lorain Krueger and wife Joan. She left

grandchildren Lori Morrissey, Shannon Ulmer and wife Holly, Michelle Colon and husband Delano,

Colby Hane and wife Liz, Candace Morrissey, Tanner Morrissey and wife Shauna, Haley Haydon

and husband Brett, Cassie Buethe and husband Tim, Seth Morrissey and wife Morgan, Conner

Morrissey and fiance Drake, as well as great-grandchildren Ansley and Greyson Ulmer, Dylan, Skye

and Mila Hane, McKenzie Colon and fiancé Chapin, Carson Morrissey, Austin and Avery Haydon

and Ellis Morrissey, soon to be arriving daughter of Seth and Morgan, as well as numerous nieces

and nephews. She also leaves behind her new friends and the hard-working staff at St. Ann’s. Mass

of the Christian burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo

Catholic Church of which Lue had been a member for her entire time in Oklahoma, to be officiated

by Father Tim Luschen. Lue was very honored to be chosen St. Charles’ Woman of Achievement

for 2005. Lue served in the St. Charles Altar Society, cooked mobile meals and loved her time in

the bowling league. Visitation will be at Bill Merritt funeral home, 6201 N.W. 39th Expressway,

Bethany, Oklahoma on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Lue’s family in

attendance after 4:00 p.m. A wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m. after the visitation. In lieu of

flowers the family requests donations be made to the St. Charles Altar Society, 5024 N. Grove, Warr

Acres, Oklahoma 73122.
