MONTVILLE - Stephen A. Kokosky, 78, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 2, 2021.
Born on February 20, 1943, in New London, CT, he grew up and spent his entire life in Montville. A 1961 graduate of New London High School, he was a star pitcher on the baseball team, once holding the school record for holding opponents to 34 consecutive scoreless innings.
He devoted 40 years of service to Electric Boat as a shipfitter, helping to oversee the construction of numerous submarines at the height of the Cold War. In his spare time, he was a prolific gardener, pet lover, diehard UConn women’s basketball fan, and avid amateur weatherman.
Stephen is pre-deceased by his parents, Steven and Helen Kokosky; and his wife, Barbara A. Gwiazdowski.
He is also survived by his brother, Richard Kokosky of Oakdale; cousin Bobbi and Wayne Rud of North Stonington, cousin Donna Kitlenski of Stonington; nephew Marc and Laura Kokosky of Staunton, VA; niece Kelly and Nick Pennell of Uncasville; and Sister M. Charles Marie Gwiazdowski of Baltic.
Calling hours will be from 10-11AM on Thursday, April 8 at Church and Allen Funeral Home, Uncasville, immediately followed by a procession and interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Uncasville.
