Maria Davila Gomez, age 68, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on April 2, 2021 suddenly. Maria was born in Mexico on April 21, 1952 to Benito Davila and Maria Teresa Davila. Maria is predeceased by her Husband of 30 years, Victor Manuel Gomez and her parent Benito and Maria Davila.
Maria is survived by her sister Margie Ortiz and Husband Mario Ortiz of Corpus Christi, Texas. Children Victor Gomez and his wife Christina Gomez of Colorado, Benito Gomez and his wife Amy Gomez of Fort Worth, Texas, Maria Cherian and her husband Dennis Cherian of Cypress Texas. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Blake Gomez, Christopher Gomez, Kevin Gomez, James Gomez, Madison Smith, Gabriella Gomez, David Cherian, Mason Gomez, Daniel Cherian, Ellarose Mitchell, Samuel Mitchell, and Alessandra Gomez.
Maria graduated from Miller High School in Corpus Christi in 1970. A year later, she married her kind and wonderful husband, Victor, in 1971. Two years later, Maria and Victor welcomed Victor to the world. Maria was very passionate about helping others so much that she went to Pharmacy School at Texas Southern University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy 1974. After graduation, they moved with their new son to Washington D.C. to follow her husband’s work as a lawyer. In 1976, the family moved back to Houston to be with family. They bought their family home in 1977 where they would welcome Benito in 1979 and Maria in 1981. Maria went to work for San Jacinto Methodist as a pharmacist and her husband opened a law firm. Her husband passed away in 2001. Maria was an avid world traveler doing missionary work with the Lutheran church. After retirement, Maria loved to play canasta with her group of friends, visit family and travel. She was a compassionate, hard-working Mother and wife who loved Christ Our Savior.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home Cypress Creek. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:00 am.
