Rita Boyle Huggler, 74, beloved wife of James W. Huggler, Sr. of Houston, Texas passed away suddenly on April 4, 2021. Rita was born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania in 1947. She graduated from Marian Catholic High School in Hometown, Pennsylvania in 1965 and attended Alvernia College in Reading, Pennsylvania. She often spoke with her friends from school even though she moved several times during her life, each time farther from Pennsylvania.
Rita married the love of her life, Jim, almost fifty-two years ago. They had a huge celebration for their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2019. Jim and Rita have two children (and three grandchildren). Rita was busy with running the household, since Jim traveled two-three weeks each month during his career as a Human Resources Executive. When Jim retired in 2009, they moved back to Texas and spent the first year they were in Texas remodeling their house. They loved going to Auctions, and they collected Asian art pieces.
Rita had a career as a Blood Donor Recruiter for The Methodist Hospital, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and The American Red Cross. Prior to that she worked in radio as an Advertising Salesperson and Continuity Director.
Rita was a Member and an Officer for both the Northwest Forest Republican Women and Bluebonnet Poodle Clubs. She had a passion for Politics and Poodles. She loved to attend Public Meetings, be it the local Water Board or as a regular at the Harris County Commissioner’s Court, serving as a Watchdog. Everywhere they lived, Rita was an active member of her Community. She volunteered for Northwest Assistance Ministries in Northwest Houston for a number of years, prior to Jim’s transfer to his corporate headquarters in 2005. Rita served on the Concerned Citizens Council and as a PTA Council President for twenty-two schools when they lived in Indiana.
Rita was a very devoted Nana who was involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She attended graduations, orchestra concerts and Boy Scout Ceremonies. Rita also spoke regularly with her grandchildren via phone or text message.
Rita is survived by her husband, James W. Huggler, Sr., Son James W. Huggler, Jr., his wife Valerie Huggler, Granddaughters Victoria and Elizabeth Huggler, Daughter Tiffany L. Schaupp, Grandson Christopher M. Schaupp and Brother Joseph J. Boyle of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by many cousins. Rita is joining her parents, Joseph L. Boyle and Rita S. Boyle, who passed away a number of years ago. Special thanks to her lifelong friends. Please keep Rita’s Family in your thoughts and prayers.
