Dolores was born March 4, 1943, in Overton, Texas. Dolores’ family moved to Laird Hill, Texas, near Kilgore, when she was quite young. She attended Leverett’s Chapel High School, excelling as a baton twirler in the marching band and later as drum major. She went on to perform with the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes drill team and the former Dallas Texans drill team.
She earned her Master’s degree in teaching and helped to develop teaching tools for dyslexic students, adopted by many public school districts and still being used today.
Dolores was a loving daughter to her parents, a faithful and loving wife to her husband, a wonderful mother to her children and the “apple” of her big brother Bill’s eye. Dolores was a very beautiful, caring and kind person -- always more concerned about family and friends than herself.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents W.L. and Edith Hankins, her son Jeff Gibson and her husband of 18 years, Eugene Teasley.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart Dan Kennedy, her son Kelly Gibson of Frisco, her granddaughters Taylor Gibson of Frisco and Haley (Gibson) Wilson of Edmund, Oklahoma, her brother Bill Hankins of Tom Bean, and nieces Holly Hankins of Dallas and Amy (Hankins) Hood of Orlando, Florida.
Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Sunday, April 11, and funeral services will be held at 12pm on Monday, April 12, at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, in Dallas.
