Elena was born in Havana Cuba on October 14, 1952. Her parents Josefina Walters and Pedro Portillo de la Luz raised a loving and genuine daughter. Elena was an only child who seek happiness through reading her bibles, listening to her favorite music, and writing. Elena graduated Union Hill High school in 1972 and developed many long-lasting friendships since. She continued to advance in her life when she landed employment at HPD in 1997 as an Administrative Assistant. Elena devoted over 20 years of her life doing what she loved. She retired in 2019 when she expressed it was one of her most accomplishing moments. Elena treasured all four of her children and embraced every moment with them. She gave unconditional love and made worth making sacrifices so that her family can grow strong. Elena was an amazing person. she was not only known for her sense of humor, her generosity, and her integrity but she was also well known for penmanship. Everyone admired her talent in writing. Elena Portillo has so many good qualities that will forever be remembered.
She is survived by all four of her children Ivy Portillo, Daniel Olivo, Denisse Olivo and Joel Olivo. By her grandchildren Shawn and Hendrix, by all her family and friends.
The ceremony will be held at Leber Funeral Home located in 2000 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Union City, NJ 07087 at 10:00AM The mass will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend in person. Elena Portillo family would like to thank their extended family and friends for their support, prayers, and friendship. We are so blessed to have had such a truly inspirational loving and caring mother and may we humbly pray for her spirt to live on in us.
